Nurseries in South Bristol

Hi, my lo is 3 months old and I started looking at nurseries this week (she will go in 8 months when she will be 11 months old). I am looking South Bristol (Brislington, Knowle, Hengrove, Whitchurch) area as this is on my way to work and to be honest haven't find many nurseries in the area let alone the one that looks appealing. Any recommendations? thanks x

I was just about to post something to the same effect. I am living overseas so it is hard to gauge what a place is like without seeing it in person.

Ones that I have researched so far are: -

Mama Bears in Totterdown (they also have one in Brislington).

Court House in Totterdown (they are fully booked and have a long waiting list).

The Co-operative Nursery at Temple Meads (I thought this looked nice but not impressed with some of the comments on the ofsted report.
Little Acorns in Brislington - this is under construction and should be completed in June.

Have you been to any of these? I guess it is harder when your little one is so young as your needs are different. Mine are 3 and 2.

Have a look at this link for lists of nurseries:

Hi, yes, I am looking at exactly the same ones! Have been to MamaBear in Hengrove and didn't like it. The staff were friendly but it just looked a bit depressing! Court house looked a bit messy but had a good vibe. I am yet to call the Little Acorns. Coop is actually not on my way to work but I did look on their website as a colleague will send her baby there. There is also Abbeywood Tots in Knowle park (will call them today). My problem is that I am looking from 7:30 to 6 (my poor baby) and not all of them are open that late. Apart from these, I haven't find any others in the area. Sounds like not enough nurseries for such big area! Will let you know how I feel about the other ones once I go around. Message me if you need a bit more detailed info.

Don't forget the children's centres - they tend to have the best quality nurseries. Ilminster Avenue, Knowle West and Redcliffe all have good or outstanding provision. Don't think they tend to do very long hours though.

Where do you work? May be easier to find one near there?

I have a friend who has a child in mama bears in Hengrove and rates it very highly. I used their crews hold one for some time and really loved it, lots of childminders in the Whitchurch area if that's an option...
