I'm not from Dorset but I was there the other day and I saw the entrance to what I assume is a very grand house. I am hoping that someone here can tell me the name of the place as I'd like to find out more about it. It was on the right hand side of the road as I went from Dorchester to Ringwood, and was a pair of huge stone arches with a giant stone deer on top of each one. I was concentrating on my driving (isn't that road busy? I am a country bumpkin and not used to that level of traffic) so I couldn't look for identifying signs.
