People's thoughts on Hyndland please?

Don't hear a lot about Hyndland primary and their website is a mess and doesn't look like it's been touched at all this year! Won't hold that against them though as I know that some schools choose to prioritise other things.

I know a lot of the Steiner kids got sent there when their school got closed after the fire.

Be really keen to hear opinions thanks.

I don't think the website is any reflection of the school which is very highly thought of.
It doesn't need a website as a marketing tool as it will be full / oversubscribed. The school won't have a budget for website development so will have to divert money from other resources. The Glasgow council website will have all the general info on schools.

Most info will be sent to existing /prospective parents rather than the general public

Thanks Timeandtune. Yes, am aware that the website is not an indication of the school's worth in other areas. Just wanting some more info about the place. Hear lots of stuff about Hillhead and Hyndland Secondary but haven't heard much about Hyndland Primary. I didn't know, for a start, that it's oversubscribed and highly thought of, so thanks for that info. You obviously have experience of the school, do you care to divulge any more details?! I've already found the Parent Council blog for the school which has a lot more personality to it and it sounds great. Just need to get a bit more info. For instance, looks like it's had a change of Head and Depute Head quite recently and wonder how that's working out?

Our eldest is in P5 at Hyndland and has been there since halfway through P1. Its a great wee school. Happy to answer any specific questions you have. One reason they are so oversubscribed is because the closure of Dowanhill school left lots of families who live very close to the school in the catchment for Hillhead which is much further away.

(I know the school has been trying to get a new website launched for a while too!)

Re-reading your post I am guessing you are perhaps concerned about why the school lost both Head and Depute Head at the same time? The previous Depute Head had been acting up as Head at another school for sometime and then was offered a permanent position as Head at another school, it was announced she would be leaving shortly before the former Head announced her retirement. The new Head seems to be settling well and getting the balance right between keeping the best of established traditions etc. while also introducing new ideas too (like a new house system). The Parent Council is very active, particularly in fundraising for the school, and there is a full calendar of annual events to get involved with. I really wouldn't have a bad word to say about the school.

Thanks geekgirlx. Sounds great. Thanks also for explaining the current Head and Depute Head situation - I was wondering why they seem to have lost both in quick succession!
