Hi all!
I live in Devon and I'm on the lookout for a council house swap, and I've had possible interest from a lady who lives in a lovely house right on the very edge of the Clem Atlee estate (on the Lillie Road side, opposite Normand Park). I know nothing about this area, although my parents grew up in Fulham & Hammersmith.
Ok so anyway.... my question is as follows - would you live here? I am no snob, and I refuse to buy into the media hype about guns and gangs and stabbings and whatnot, but also I am a single mother with two little boys and this is a big move for us. I am a firm believer in marching at fear with a sword, but at the same time I don't want to be moving my children to an area where we are worried to leave the house after dark.
Please forgive my ignorance, as I say I am really unfamiliar with this area, I'd just really like to hear from people who know what they're talking about rather than anonymous forum posts I find on the internet from people who believe that living on any estate in London will result in your kids being stabbed or recruited to a gang!
