we have just sold our house (edge of Stockbridge) and are looking for more space (isn't everyone..?!) but don't want to be totally disconnected from town etc.. and can see that we could probably get what we want in Silverknowes and there are a couple of houses on the market now that are proper contenders. So I was just looking for anyone who could give me the inside info on living there..do you like it? Is it a hassle getting into town? Are you happy with schools etc..?
We seem to have a long list on the pro side (decent size house, can walk down to the seafront/lauriston castle, buses to town, good schools) but are wondering if there are any obvious downsides we are missing.
Obviously we will miss being able to walk into town in 15 mins but figure we just have to live with that..

What about Trinity or Newhaven? more central but still more bang for your buck

Check the catchment areas with care. Parts of Silverknowes feed to Craigroyston High (can't remember the primary) which isn't a great school. However parts (on the Davidson's Mains side) feed to Davidsons Mains Primary and Royal High which is a far better option.
