Looking for a piano/singing teacher

Can anyone recommend a music teacher for my 12 year old daughter?
Ideally, she would like a female teacher who can teach her both Grade 4 piano and Grade 6 singing (both Trinity Board) in the Wimbledon area, but we can be flexible if personalities and logistics click.

Larks11, I've asked the question on the Mumsnet Merton Facebook page too. I've had some messages about a teacher (whose name has come up several times) and am endeavouring to find out more for you!

Also asked LEs Kingston & Wandsworth to retweet my Twitter message too!

Thanks for getting back to me on this and for any efforts to find someone.

I was surprised not to see any music teachers listed under the services section on Merton MN, alongside many other private tutors for academic subjects. Strange?

We've moved this talk thread from 'Can You Help?' so I've copied and pasted another Mumsnetter's comments:

"Hi...not sure about the piano side of things but usually singing teachers do also play the piano so worth a shot (although not sure about the board she teaches). Her name is Elaine Hammonds, wonderful singing teacher - I can PM you her number if you're interested - she is based more over the Colliers Wood side though...."

Thanks

Hi HaydenWomble,

Thanks for your message. Definitely sounds worth a try as you know this teacher personally and that counts for a lot. Also location may be OK as we are Merton Park based. Please PM me the details. Thanks so much.

Just to answer my own query because it might be helpful to others looking for music tuition in Wimbledon - I had completely forgotten (until reminded via a Mumsnet lead) about Cherry Pie Music School on Kingston Road! They have lots of enthusiastic and accomplished teachers in a wide range of instruments.

We went along for a free 30 minute trial piano lesson last weekend and my daughter loved it! So, my thanks to everyone who responded to my original post or sent me leads via pm and I'm pleased to say we're now sorted!

Glad you were successful larks11!

For anyone else reading this post and looking for music lessons for their DCs, there's also the Merton Music Foundation to consider.

Also for future reference, the piano store (Hanna?) has details of several piano teachers who use their music rooms for teaching or practising.
