Help! Tell me about primary schools in Chesterfield and surrounding arears please

Hi, my sister's moving to the Chesterfield area soon and needs to know about primary schools - it may not be for a few months but she wants to move to an area where there's a good school for her 9 year old dd.

So, is there anywhere/any school to avoid? Which schools are good - if you have a child at school within eight miles of Chesterfield, would you recommend their school?

And how does admissions work for people joining an established school, rather than starting in reception?

NB her dd has additional needs. Doesn't affect intellect but does sometimes affect communication or behaviour - not in a negative way but can do some stuff that might seem a bit out of the ordinary. So a school where the other kids are going to be kind and not phazed by difference would be great.

All advice gratefully received...

Oops! Surrounding areas, not 'arears' whatever they are...

We go to Brampton primary- the kids love it and it has a really nice feel to it.

I think you fill in a form on the council's website or phone them up for in year changes.

The secondary that we want to go to is Brookfield Community- they have a catchment map on their website. Demand is high for there I think. We live in the catchment but in an arm that comes off it rather than main bubble. Prices tend to be higher in the main for that catchment are in the main bubble compared to surrounding streets.
