Hello everyone,
We are moving to South Manchester in Sept/Oct time and were on a look out for schools for my DS who will be starting Yr1. Atm, we have narrowed down the schools to Alt Prep or CHS (if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know!) I did read that results from Alt Prep have not been that great 2 yrs back ? Is it still the same or have they improved? We have never lived in Manchester before , so don't have any idea of the area or schools. Hence any input would be great !
Thanks....

I don't have any direct experience (so take all this with a pinch of salt) but when you say the results have not been great, what do you mean? From what I know (live locally), I would expect APS to perhaps concentrate (certainly in Year 3/4/5) on getting the children into AGSB, not necessarily to do well in the SATS (if those are the results you're referring to) although obviously they will still be doing normal work and some exam prep helps with SATS too for Maths etc. I think its highly regarded locally.

Cheadle Hulme is less "pushy" as far as reputation goes, slightly more nurturing and since children can stay there for all of their school lives (without entrance exam pressure) its not seen as such a "hot house". I also personally think that its better for boys certainly to have a mixed school rather than just boys. My DS mixes with boys from APS at football / out of school clubs atc and there are definitely some badly behaved boys (but of course they may have been badly behaved boys whichever school they went to and I don't know any boys who go to CH).
