Am new to this site n joined just now to get help frm other mum's abt my current situation.
Am not offered any of my 6 choices given for the primary school place in reception. Wanted to get into northealing primary was given hathaway primary. I have read a lot of bad reveiws abt hathaway primary, though it is rated good by OFSTED. Shud i decline the place n be on waiting list?? As i dont want to send my dd to Hathaway with no proper insight. For a moment i even thought of home schooling her rather than sending her to hathaway. Does any one of ur children go to hathaway?? Are the reviews abt the school tru?? Or any change in the management??? Even the performance results are not good for tht school.

Thinking of appealing as well. Plssss HELP

Visit the allocated school and speak to staff, go on the waiting list of any others you would accept if that is not suitable. Don't rely on reviews or hearsay as you will always hear more negative than positive and don't turn the place down until you have another.

What is the source of your info? I'm not familiar with Hathaway but remember how quickly schools can change so if the reviews date back a bit they may be out of date. A visit is essential, you may find it is not as dismal as you think!

Accept the place, go on the waiting lists for the schools you do want but be realistic. Are you actually in catchment for any of the schools you listed? Pressure on places in Ealing is very high. Call the admission office, I always found them very helpful, they will be able to tell you where you are on waiting lists.

Unless you think an error has been made there is not much point appealing.

Rooki - also try posting on Facebook's "Pitshanger Area Friends" and "Northfields Friends". I have asked on "Ealing Mums & Dads" for you already Smile.

"Hanwell Friends" might be able to help too.

Thank u all for the suggestions, booked an appointment with hathaway primary to speak to the head teacher and class teachers on monday. New head teacher in place, just joined last week. I come under selborn catchment but it was not in my list. I dont think i get to know my position in waiting list until 1st week of may. So am going to accept the place and see where i will be in the waiting list. Will update u all. Ty once again to everyone

alot of people accept Hathaway, then put their name on the waiting list for Brentside- and they generally tend to get a place

I think there is a HUGE amount of prejudice against this school, and they are meant to have a great new HT

I think some level of acceptance is needed- and be realistic around the waiting list you join. Dont go on a liost for a school that jas 30 people in front
