Hi can anyone help?!
We are thinking about moving to Frome but we are confused by the choice of Secondary Schools...is Frome College the only choice and is it a good school? I have heard Writhlington is good but it is quite far out do many children from Frome go there? Are there any other secondary schools I am missing?
Also if we do move there what is the crime like? Are there any areas to avoid?
Thank you so much for ANY help!! x

Hi, I've just written an unintentional essay on another, similar question, here: local.mumsnet.com/Talk/local_bath/2059565-middle-schools-frome
Hope that's a start!

Quite a few Frome children do go to Writhlington, but it's getting harder to do this (it's not in Frome but on the edge of Radstock). There is also St Augustines in Trowbridge if you are Catholic, and this has a very good reputation.

V little crime, a bit of drunken shouting in the centre of town at the weekends, with occasional added window smashing every so often.

My experience has all been good and the three tier schools help them emotionally. By Year 4 they are readdy to move from a 1st school and then by Y6 when hormones and puberty begin kicking in school is something that remains constant. By Y8 they choose GCSE options and so move to the college. Perfect system!
