Moving to Marple Bridge

Hi,

We will shortly be relocating from SE London (East Dulwich) to Marple Bridge for work reasons. I am really rather worried about the change from quite a bustling London life to living in a large ish village. I'm looking for ideas on clubs to join, things to do with the kids and groups where I might meet new friends in the local area (and DH too).

Are there things going on locally we can get involved with? My DD is 2.5yrs so not at school yet. I work part time so will be around a couple of days a week and looking for some mum (or dad) friends to hand out with.

Any tips would be most appreciated!

Thanks

Hi I am at the other side of Cheshire but I'm sure you will soon find that some of the towns near to you are quite busy and it's not far to Manchester if you really miss the bustle. Wilmslow will have lots to get involved with. Just remember Northerners are not shy of chatting to people and so don't worry about making links, just invite people to meet out for coffee! Kids are a great excuse to invite other parents to yours for a BBQ or just meet up in the park. Good Luck - it might come as a culture shock just how approachable we can be!

Hello and welcome to Cheshire! I have tweeted and FB your post to hopefully get you some answers. I live in Knutsford for so don't really know Marple Bridge that well. However, I did move from Putney to Knutsford over 10 years ago and have never looked back. It is a great place to have a family! At first I did miss London life and I still go back at least twice a year to get my fix!
