6th form - St Aidans or HGS?

We are moving to the area this summer and DS is in the happy position of having been offered 6th form places at both St Aidan's and Harrogate Grammar School. He loved both and he is finding the decision really tough. Any thoughts? Thank you to anyone who can help.

Not much help but thought I'd bump the thread for you.

I have 2 friends with daughters who will be starting A levels this September, one Grammar the other St Aidan's, their Dcs have attended the schools since year 7 and they are both constantly raving about the schools, so to put your mind at rest it sounds like neither decision will be a bad one!

Thanks for that, it's good to hear. To be honest it's not that he feels one is better than the other, it's more like he'll be missing out on something by not going to one of them. If he could split his time between the two he would!

Hi I have a son at HGS in yr 11 and a daughter who went to HGS 6th form . Both are amazing 6th forms.
StAidens seems (as an outsider) brilliant for a music and is a great deal bigger than HGS .
For my children HGS has been fantastic . Great student support if required , good academic results .
It's a good choice to have ,also bear in mind the Alevels wanting to be taken and check each school does them.

Thanks for your input. This might sound odd but have you been aware of any drug problems in either school? This issue has recently raised its ugly head in DS' current school and, whilst he seems sensible enough to ignore it, it is something I'd like to avoid (or minimise) where possible as we hold strong views. I know some people will say they are present in all schools but I'm sure certain schools are worse than others. Hope you don't mind me asking. Thank you.
