Thinking of moving to Frome- school knowledge needed!

Hi,

We are currently in Surrey and considering a move to Frome. Not for work but lifestyle mainly (escape the rat race etc). We have two sons aged 6 and nearly 4, so current year 1 and starting reception in September. We haven't visited schools yet but are thinking of Mells first school, St Johns or possibly Trinity. Can anyone shed any light on what these are like and/or reccomend others in Frome. We will probably move to centre of Frome but happy to drive out a little bit for the right school. Our eldest is pretty advanced academically, but needs his emotional side nurturing as well as to be a little bit challenged. our second is very physically active, and will be very young in the school year.
Also, wondering about the middle schools- how people have experienced these?
Any other general tips about Frome life gratefully received! Thanks in advance.

I have just returned to live in Frome after being in Germany for the last 7 years. I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old. We deliberately moved into the catchment area for Trinity School as it has had a consistantly good reputation for many years now. Moving back to the UK from Germany was a huge upheaval for my 6 year old and we are really pleased with how Trinity have helped her settle in. Teaching staff/head are all very approachable, great community feel to it and lots going on. We are really pleased we got her in! St Johns School also has a good reputation as do most of the village schools. If you have any more questions, please just shout!

Thank you-that's really helpful, and reassuring to hear of someone moving a child at 6. How does your child find the size of the school? And I'm wondering if you know much about or have visited the middle schools as I've heard mixed things about them...

Hi, my daughter has been happy with class sizes - there are two classes in every year group, doesn't seem too large for her at all. I went through the middle school system myself in Frome - had no complaints. I found it much easier to move from a primary to middle school to college then going straight from primary to secondary - not so overwhelming!!

Hi, sorry for jumping in in this thread but we are also moving to Frome and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on Christ Church? We have a 7 year old boy and a nearly 4 year old (and baby too). any thoughts would be greatly received!

Sorry, I don't really know a lot about Christchurch School - haven't heard anything bad about it tho! There is a Facebook page called 'Frome Paretns', would be worth asking on there as I am sure someone will have some first hand experience of the school. Sorry I can't be of more help!
