Anyone from Stoke Gabriel? Or moved to Devon with kids?

Hi everyone,

My husband and I are very interested in moving from London to Devon with our children, who are 2 and 4. We'd like a lively village, preferably with a school, pub and shop. We like the area around Totnes a lot, and Stoke Gabriel seems to be a lovely place with a lot going on.

I'd love to hear from anyone who lives there what it's like, how it is bringing up children there etc?

Also, from anyone who has moved anywhere in Devon with children, and how you have got on.

I'm massively excited, but also quite realistic about the potential downsides, so it would be really interesting to hear people's experiences.

Hi B,

We moved from Kent to Devon 3 years ago and it was the best thing we ever did. There is so much to do with little ones down here and lots of free places too, (which is always a bonus).

Totnes is lovely, one of my fave towns down here.
Have you decided where you want to move to yet?

Sorry I totally missed your message! We're very interested in Stoke Gabriel as it's such a lovely place. Currently trying to work out how we can make our freelance jobs work down there.

Also wondering if it's too far from everything we know already - or whether that's the enormous appeal!
