Hi there. I am planning a home birth for DC2 ad have been referred to home birth team at PRM.

Does anyone have any experiences of / with them as feeling both nervous and excited to meet them.

Apparently all my antenatal care ( not scans / test obv) will be done in my own home!!

I wasn't sure whether to post my experience or not, but I figured it was better for you to know!

I had a home birth with the PR team. I saw the same lovely midwife for all my ante natal appts, although they were in the local medical centre rather than my home. They did visit the house to make sure it was safe for the midwife iirc. The midwife I saw was lovely.

Unfortunately the midwife I saw all along wasn't on duty when I was in labour. The midwife that arrived was a horror. She expressed some homophobic views, fell out with the second midwife that arrived and also fell out with my husband.

She fell out with my husband as he was trying to get her to arrange for some more gas and air to be brought to the house. i was promised by the first lovely midwife that they would just arrange for more if we ran out.

She lied to us and told us it was impossible for her to order more as they couldn't legally. Funny that when she eventually backed down it was no longer illegal and some arrived, unfortunately it was too late and also had the wrong valve to attach to their equipment.

I wasn't really aware of all this going on, but I did panic at one point when they all disappeared out of the room and then came back in and said that more G&A was on its way as I thought that meant something was wrong or that my labour was going to go on for ages longer.

She came to see us a couple of days after the birth and was expecting my DH to apologise to her Hmm.

Saying all that a home birth was the right thing for me despite running out of gas and air.

Good luck!
