Hello,

I thought I'd stick a message up here as I may get lucky and find someone out there in the same situ as me.
I'm a self-employed mama to two young girls (3 and 18 months) and my partner works in catering so works stupid crazy shifts that we never know about more than three days before the next week starts!
This basically means my free time is limited to the days I've got the girls (they go to a childminder three days a week) and it'd be nice to meet other mums in this time rather than just spending the time with them, not that they're not great because they are but you know, adult company is great too.
We usually end up traipsing to the local park (either Walton Hall or Croxteth) or going into town to one of the galleries (the kids' art bits in both are hugely popular with my girls) or the library, which I'm completely in love with.
Anyone in a similar boat? I'm hopeful :)

Aw bct! I know I'm not in your demographic, mine being older, but I could meet you for a coffee some time, I'm on flexi so can get out of work between 12 and 2.

JackieTheFart · 12/04/2014 10:41

Hi bct!

I'm full time but shift work so I often have a day off in the week or weekends of course. I have three boys, twins of 5 and a 2 year old who I would love to meet up with some other children. My husband is a SAHD at the moment but he doesn't feel comfortable going to toddler groups with my littlest boy.

If you can get there, there's a great soft play place in St Helens - I'll google it in a minute as I can't remember the name, but during term time it's pretty reasonable and there is no time limit!

My next weekday off is Easter Monday, otherwise I'm off Saturdays after 2pm (every other one anyway, alternate weekends I'm off) and Sundays of course!

biglips · 12/04/2014 14:29

Hey bct.....im not far from you as in Seaforth. I'm a sahm so i can be flexi with days of when ya free. Atm my ds have naps in the afternoons or otherwise hr howls the place down by 4pm!! Lol. Also my girls are in school full time. Spk soon xx

bct87 · 15/04/2014 17:36

Wow thanks for all the replies I'm amazed :)
Kinetic I am determined to meet up with one of your meet-y uppy groups sometime!!

Oooh I have a friend who lives in St. Helens Jackie :) - it'd be worth finding ourselves a way of getting there - being able to drive but not having a car is a nightmare! We're free pretty much every Saturday and Sunday unless we've been roped into a family visit - it's so hard to find others who are usually! It'd be great to do something, sounds like your youngest might be in the middle of my two in age. My youngest also loves elder children - she so wishes she was about 6!

Hi biglips - how old is your littlest? My littlest also has naps, when she remembers, but she'd happily stay asleep for 4 hours in the afternoon and party all night!! Do you have any local groups or anything you go to?

:)

This is the place I was thinking of. Not sure I want to go in school holidays but term time it's great! Grin

You could probably get the train bct - it's right behind St Helen's central (or whatever the biggest station is called.)

I've got a bit of a hectic schedule for the next couple of weeks or so, but do you think you might be free Friday 2nd May? We could meet at Treasure Island if you're up for it? Or anywhere really, I'm easy going Grin I just hate going to children's places at weekends and bank holidays - so busy, limited timespan etc.

Anyway, PM me if you fancy it x

JackieTheFart · 16/04/2014 19:10

Biglips this offer extends to you too of course!

JackieTheFart · 16/04/2014 19:11

And kinetic although not sure how much your boy would enjoy soft play Grin

kinetic · 16/04/2014 21:08

He likes little 'uns, he's a caring sensitive chap (dunno how that happened!) and he approves of the Mumsnet because the hive mind said he should be allowed Simpsons Tapped Out, so who knows? Grin

I like little 'uns too except I tend towards the talking to them like I'm a pensioner thing. If that's a thing.

Anyway, if yis are off to that there St Helens, another of the meetup people might be interested?? Sorry to crash the small ones party, I had one once though Grin

kinetic · 16/04/2014 21:09

Overuse of grin, writing down scouse, guilty as charged.

bct87 · 16/04/2014 22:56

Yes 2nd May sounds good to me! I don't know what this place is but I'm sure I'll be able to find it and the girls will love me forever for actually taking them somewhere they're interested in!

Let's do it :D

How do I send a PM on here? I don't really know what I'm doing...

OP posts:
JackieTheFart · 17/04/2014 01:20

Hmmm I'm not sure! It doesn't seem to have the link like on the main boards.

bct87 · 17/04/2014 09:09

Agh how annoying - I'm definitely interested anyway :)

OP posts:
kinetic · 17/04/2014 11:07

It is odd there's no pm button, but if you're looking at the thread through the phone app you can do it, there's a blue box with a curvy arrow, if you press that you can pm.

Another thing to suggest to HQ, keep 'em coming!

JackieTheFart · 17/04/2014 12:10

Ah I think it's because I was on my phone - now I'm at work I have a 'message poster' button.

I don't like the app because on long threads it gets caught in a loop and I miss out on all the fun!

I'll PM you now bct87.

bct87 · 17/04/2014 12:20

Ohhh I never use my phone but I'll try and find the PM when it's here :D! x

OP posts:
biglips · 17/04/2014 17:45

Helllooo!!!.. Yeh click on message poster bct for the pm. My ds is 22m old do not far off dropping his naps soon ????????. Count me in for 2nd may. Ive never been to st Helens in my life but if its behind the train st then it be easy to find using my sat nav. ( i cant live without the sat nav asi really dont know Liverpool that well!). what time you thinking??? X

bct87 · 19/04/2014 13:51

Yay how exciting :D!
My biggest only dropped her naps when she went into a proper bed and we only did that when she was about 2.5 maybe older cause baby moved into her room and took the cot haha!
My littlest is nearly 18 months and sometimes decides she won't nap which is always fun.

2nd May is looking good! x

OP posts:
kinetic · 25/04/2014 00:38

So you guys, still on for 2nd May? Can I put it on the Meetup page? Smile

JackieTheFart · 26/04/2014 10:21

Yup go ahead!

I've had massive connection issues with Local for some reason - it won't post for me Confused

kinetic · 26/04/2014 15:34

Really? Did you get your pc dewormed :p ?

JackieTheFart · 27/04/2014 19:23

Oh that issue was fixed - but since the two year old ragged to screen from the keyboard it's completely dead Angry.

But I'm getting an iPad from work soon so that should work nicely Grin

bct87 · 28/04/2014 16:20

I haven't even checked anything for ages - I've been off and about all over the place! 2nd May is looking good :D!

OP posts:
kinetic · 28/04/2014 22:14

What time is it happening though eh? eh? rather important to have a time, I reckon, call me a stickler for details, actually don't because I'm so not, but still, what time, eh? eh?

kinetic · 28/04/2014 22:26

In the spirit of talking to myself, I will suggest 11am. Time enough to get the older ones off to school, and self and little ones to that there St Helens. An hour's play, a spot of lunch, some more play, then time enough to get back to pick the older ones up from school.

Whaddya think, too early??

bct87 · 28/04/2014 22:58

Sounds good to me :D Just going to work out how to get there but can't see any problem with then!
