Tell me about Fairfield School

This may sound ridiculous because my DD won't be starting secondary school for 7 years, but we're thinking of moving to St Andrews, and worrying about secondary schools. Given the baby boom, it seems possible that Cotham School may no longer have space for St Andrews kids by then, so what's Fairfield like? It sounds like its a school on the up, and Ofsted parents' view suggests that most feel its pretty safe, but I'd be interested to hear about personal experiences. Does the demographic mean all resources go into getting everyone up to an ok standard, or do kids with a better start also thrive? And what about the future? Is the demographic around Montpelier/Bishopston/st werburghs changing?
Also, is there a significant problem with gangs/knife crime in Bristol? If so, are there any schools that are best avoided?

Late response maybe but I went to an info evening Fairfield held recently. Lots of it was standard school talk (every child reach potential, help all to do best, lots of opportunities etc) but the students and parents who spoke were very passionate and positive.

I think if my DC would be going there with a large no. of primary friends I'd be happy with it. Sadly that won't be the case for us so not sure what we'll do.

Will be looking at results though - they are predicting a large rise in their GCSE pass rate this year.

I think birth rate rise and no. of families in the area make it likely its intake will change as well. If they get an Outstanding and a sixth form (which they want) then who knows?
