Hi,

I've just moved here from London, I have a nearly 8 month old boy and I'm finding it so hard adjusting to life here. Anyone in the same boat or who can advise me on good baby groups to go to?

Thank you!

Hi there,
I am in a similar situation - moved to harpenden last weekend from London and have a 8 month old daughter. So pretty much exactly the same actually!
Coffee?

LisaBookMums · 03/04/2014 17:40

Ah! That's probably coz you smell Smile

Loads of "normal" Wheathampsters and Harpie Mums hang out here: www.facebook.com/groups/harpendentoddlernetwork/

Just drop Hannah a line saying you are new to the area (it's only a closed group because of out of area spamming)

The bleedin' nutters hang out here: www.facebook.com/groups/731827183515794/ (Tongue in cheek, fun site for Mums who are over the initial shock of parenthood and drink a bit too much wine of an evening!)

The nice thing about this area is, because of it's good communication links to London, there are loads of us who moved out this way to have our families. Not just ex-Londoners, there is a great diversity of nationalities. There are even Northerners! Wink

Welcome to the area ladies xx

Hi Bloody,
Sorry to hear you're having a hard time here in the Wheat - it can be a big adjustment to make after London, I know. I have two girls, 3 and 6 months, so not a dissimilar situation to yourself.
Have you had any contact with the Wheathampstead Children's Centre? It's a great place to start and in fact they have a session next Wednesday at 9am (don't know if that's tricky for you with a young baby?) which is aimed specifically at newcomers to the village. Full info here: www.hertschildrenscentres.org.uk/lamerfields/
Do feel free to PM me if you want any more information or if you'd like to meet up; we are pretty free for the next couple of weeks with school holidays looming large!

There's a lovely baby group called tiny tots tunes that you should look up. Join the Facebook group of St Albans Mums and Harpenden Parents Network for lots of great advice and places to go. Check out mummsphere for drop in classes available around yhe area. There's also lovely playgroup on a Friday at the memorial hall too. Welcome to the area! X

I can second the playgroup at Marford Hall on a Friday. It's the friendliest group I've ever been to - everyone chats to you! X

There are lots of things going on. Feel free to PM me. The children's centre is your friend. They run really nice groups - I used to go to the one on Monday morning in the Hilldyke. Also the Friday toddlers group is fab too.

The church run a playgroup on a Wednesday I think. Also some tots singing on a Thursday but not been to either.

There used to be NCT coffee mornings but I think they have stopped.
