Painter/decorator

Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced painter decorator please?

Has anyone experience with 2 I found online - Jason Kirby - and Painting Ladies - the latter being all females?

Many thanks.

This person was recommended on another thread so I listed him in our services section

Painting & Decorating

Thanks but we once contacted him before for something else and he said he no longer travelled outside of the city to the villages - so no good to us.

Any other suggestions anyone?

We had someone contracted by Jason Kirby to do some work for us and he was good. Subsequently I heard, from two separate sources, some unsavoury stories about Jason Kirby's business practises. So we won't be using them again.

Thanks for that feedback prsnbx.

Has anyone used or heard of painting Ladies - the all female decorator business - of anyone else they can recommend please?

I'm shocked to see any negative feedback on Jason Kirby as I have used him many times, as do my parents and from the advertising boards I see everywhere I go so do half of Cambridgeshire!! He also does cover villages, my parents are in hemmingford grey. I've always found him professional and the guys he employs have worked in my house while my family and I have been abroad and were really respectful working in my home while I was at home with a new born baby. I honestly can't recommend him highly enough

Keefe123 · 15/04/2014 20:50

I've used him too. Really nice guy, went over and above to accommodate

Keefe123 · 15/04/2014 20:55

Also I see Jason Kirby vans everywhere so he must cover other areas

I would recommend Chris Springett, but I don't think he advertises and I'm loath to put his mobile number on a public forum. He is reasonable, reliable, very competent and is also a gentle giant of a man - does ceilings without a step ladder! if you're interested, get back to me and I'll see if I can send you his number.

Still looking for more recommendations for a painter/decorator. Got a quote from one company mentioned above - but it's about triple what we hoped for (about 4K for hallway and 2 tiny bedrooms). Has anyone had a good experience with any other company, at a reasonable price? How about the Paint Trust or Painting Ladies?

Does anyone know what the local going rate is for painting/decorating these days?

We've used Tony and James Haddock in the past. They're based in Godmanchester, but seem to cover a reasonably wide area, so It might be worth seeing if they'd quote for a Cambridge job. Speed and quality of the work was great and they were a reasonable price. They're searchable online, and the son, James, seems to have his own website now.
