I'm about to make an offer on a house in Warlingham. I have an 8 month old so would love any tips on nurseries (I'll be back to work when he is 1). Several websites seem to suggest a term time only policy which won't work for me. My friend has seen a lovely nursery on a farm (love it) but it is in Lingfield which is too far.

Also, are there any good runs in the area? I'm trying to get into shape! I think the nearest gym is in Oxted - is that right? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Finally a very silly question - why is Warlingham so much cheaper (relatively!) than Oxted for example? Is it due to the catchment area for the secondary school? Postcode snobbery? I'm looking for the catch as we think the house is good VFM.

Thanks all

tbh not sure Warlingham is in the main that much cheaper, although probably more supply of housing. There are sports centres and gyms in Caterham (ie.next to de Stafford school, just off A22 ) which would be closer. The Larks in Oxted is a daycare nursery and there is another just off the high street but depends where you are working as to whether that is suitable . I'm sure there are others closer by.

We've lived in Warlingham for 4 years now, and love it. Wasn't aware there was a large difference in house prices between Warlingham and Oxted. If there is, I imagine it's more to do with Oxted being a more "Chocolate Box" village.

The neighbours we have in Warlingham are the nicest, most gregarious people I've ever lived near. Our street has a Christmas party each year, and usually a BBQ in the summer. Never had that before :)

did you go for it? Asquith Court Caterham is v close to Warlingham (closer than Oxted) if you are still looking for a nursery - my dc go or went there and have been very happy there. Not quite on a farm but nice outdoor space and gardens.
