Good building surveyor?

Can anyone recommend a good building surveyor? we have a ?damp issue in ds's bedroom and would like to get a surveyor to have a look before we start paying out to damp companies.

I used Michael Pointon - he was excellent and talked me through everything as well guiding me towards a couple of damp companies to choose from.

Many damp companies will come and do you a free survey and provide you quotes for the work. You may want to get a few opinions though.

Most damp companies will offer a free written survey, might be worth doing though obv you gotta take it with a pinch of salt as they will be offering to do the work also, might be worth getting a couple to compare?
