Cambridge Nurseries - a little plea

LocalEditorCambridge · 18/02/2014 20:55

Nurseries are always a hot topic on our talk page, understandably, as getting the right childcare is major issue for us all.

Some Cambridge nurseries are listed here: it would be great if you had first hand experience (good, bad or just OK) if you could add your thoughts - particularly so if your experience is recent. Another mum's experience and opinion can make all the difference when you're trying to decide which nursery to go for.

Cambridge Nurseries

Equally let me know on this thread if we need to add your one.

Flowers Thank you so much in advance. It all goes towards making Cambridge Mumsnet one of the best local sites in the country (which it really is by the way Wink)

Just think when asking for the 'bad' too you must remember opinions are personal and nothing beats visiting a Nursery and making your own mind up.
It worries me that someone's 'opinion' can become a trusted universal truth, be it a good opinion, bad or indifferent.

DD went to Cambridge Day Nursery from 2009 until 2010 and we loved it. It had just been reeling from a very bad Ofsted but when we visited, they were totally upfront about it and we liked the feel of the place so sent her. She was in the pre school room upstairs with around 8 other 3 - 4 year olds and left being able to read, write a little, speak basic French and do some yoga (!). They also featured on 'Same Smile' Just a lovely place from our experience.!!

Wilder you're absolutely right - bad was the wrong choice of word. I should have put reviews must be your honest personal opinion - based on recent experience. It's very subjective as you put in your post. What I was trying to get across is don't feel you can't be honest if you're experience wasn't all positive.

If there is ever a negative review MNHQ encourage us to approach the business so they have a right of reply.

My DD goes to Little Hands in Melbourn - there are 4 Little Hands nurseries Bartlow/Linton, Bourn, Newton & Melbourn. It's a brilliant nursery, the staff are fantastic and it is truly child-centred. They maintain a high staff ratio right the way through to the preschoolers which gives them more time to focus on each child. My DD loves it and I highly recommend it. I know it might make more sense to put it in the Cambridgeshire local site, but I tend to look at Cambridge more.

Hi can you add Patacakes, Malta road?
Then I will add a (positive) review.

Have had two children go there, my DD leaves in August, and it is excellent. Very hard to get into though!

LocalEditorCambridge · 21/02/2014 12:25

Summer I will - and yes you're right - don't I know it - really wanted DD to go there but too late.

You are missing The Wendy House in Impington, DD went there, it was great, can't recommend it highly enough

May be a bit late, but I also have two boys currently at Cambridge Day Nursery (Milton Road) in Pre-school and Baby Room respectively and we have generally been happy with it.

Chestnut Nursery - newly opened in Chesterton on Green End Rd would be good to list too...
