Does anyone have any first-hand information please as I'd like to get some idea of alternatives to mainstream schools in the area?

Hello. My 2 daughters, ages 11 and 14, attend the Self Managed Learning College (SMLC) and it's fantastic - a great learning environment that offers a unique balance of choice within a framework. Have you seen the short film and looked at the website (see below). They do all the usual exams and both my girls are so happy - they were not so happy at mainstream - and we thought we had to make do! This is not the case! SMLC has been the perfect alternative for us. The staff there are really happy to talk through how they do things and for students to have a trial week - you can get directly in touch with Professor Ian Cunningham, head of SMLC at [email protected]. Good Luck!
