Ashton Vale or Luckwell primary schools?

Hi all
I'm pretty new to Mumsnet, but I was wondering if any of you have any views on these primary schools. We don't have to choose our preferences until the end of the year, but I'm really curious about them. We don't know anyone with children at either school.

Anyone have any opinions? We are much closer to Ashton Vale, but I have a gut feeling that Luckwell may be more diverse and creative, due to the more varied local area. But in reality I haven't a clue!

Visit them both. Also check the council website where you can see how far away from the school the furthest admitted child lives. Ring council if not sure, they can easily give you this info. In reality schools in that areas are under pressure for spaces so you need to look at where you would realistically get a place as well as visiting the schools and looking at ofsted reports

Yes, I've looked at their Ofsted reports (both Good), and we will visit them later in the year. I can't see the distance information on the council website, any suggestions where that might be please?
I live about a 5 mins walk from one and about 15 mins from the other, but I've no idea about distance.

Looking at that we don't stand a chance with Luckwell .

Luck well has either already expanded or will be, check with the council whether those admissions were before or after the expansion. They are helpful if you call them.

I'll give them a call, but I think I may wait until later in the year as we don't even begin the application process until September! I'm just being prematurely curious as some of my daughter's slightly older peers are going through the school application process now and it got me wondering.

Luckwell has a bulge class this academic year and therefore currently two reception classes, but this isn't planned to happen again next year. There just isn't any space. It's set up as a one-form-entry school.

Ashton Vale is nice, too, though. Children are lovely and staff seem very organised and keen.

I don't think Luckwell is expanding. I know someone who's a governor there.

The schools that have expanded in BS3 are Ashton Gate, Southville Primary and Parson St.
