Anyone used or using the Birth Centre at William Harvey? Would be lovely to hear from some local mums in Folkestone!

Hi Emlou1983

I wanted to use the birth centre at William Harvey - went for the tour...thought it looked great - especially the birthing pool rooms.

Unfortunately I couldn't use it in the end due to an uncooperative baby Wink. I was on the labour ward instead - had two great midwives. Ended up meeting the surgical team who were also great!

Stayed a few days on the ward - and again found the staff very helpful...and even enjoyed the food!

Hopefully someone who used the birth centre will be along soon to give more details, but wanted to let you know about the other parts of the maternity unit!

Verity

Hi Verity,
Thanks so much for taking the time to write back. I am just awaiting to be changed from London Hospital to William Harvey. I called to try and get a tour but unfortunately they no longer do tours. But i will take a look at the online videos. So its especially great to hear from someone has seen the facilities.
Are you in Ashford? I have just moved to Folkestone from London, exciting changing times. How old is your weee one now?

Hi Emlou,

I'm due to give birth in the MLU at the William Harvey (first baby due in 12 weeks). Lots of my friends at work have used it, and they all rave about what a good experience it was.

They all report that the staff were lovely, that they were supported and listened to and that the environment was very relaxing etc. The birthing pools are meant to be fab, too.

Hope you are enjoying Folkestone -we've just moved back after 7 years overseas. It's a lovely place to live, and summer with your baby will be fantastic!

Hi Kally! We had our little one 4 weeks ago.... It's been a whirl wind....
Would be lovely when you've got over the initial madness of adjusting to life as a mum to meet for a coffee if you fancy...
We had a great experience at William Harvey. Not what I thought or planned as I too had an uncooperative little one too.... But she's happy and healthy
Good luck with your birth and give me a shout if you fancy a meet....
Em

hi EmLou, glad you had a good experience at WHH, I had my DS2 (now 3) there and we got to sample both the Singleton and the delivery suite - uncooperative indeed!
Have you found some nice groups etc? We liked sessions at the children's centre (Caterpillars in Cheriton) and the local NCT branch is trying to get some more social stuff going on www.nct.org.uk/branches/south-kent
Good luck Kally too :)
