Houses near highfield park trust area, St. Albans - thoughts?

Hi, we're looking to move to St. Albans and have found a house we like near highfield park trust (I'm not sure of the name of this area, so thought this reference point my help) - we were hoping to get any insights into what this area is like?

We have a 5 month old baby, so it's important to us that we move to a safe, family friendly area.

It's a family area especially the newish highfield estate. Tytengangar is nearby very pretty but some past issues with traveller site. Lots building going on near there.

newgirl, I think the travellers site has been built upon now

High field Park is cheap because it's in the catchment for a historically rubbish school, which is now an academy. You could be on to a winner here!

The schools in that area are meant to be very good now - certainly look smart

We don't live in Highfield but very close by. I think it's a lovely area. The park has some nice bits parts to it. Over the summer they had a big outdoor cinema screen (can't remember what film they were showing, we didn't go as we had a newborn then) and there's an orchard which produces juice and cider (I think). Highfield estate is a nice estate. The houses have a bit more character than a lot of new builds, they're not all one identikit house. The doctors surgery is a good one and if you have daughters then it doesn't matter where in St Albans you live you'll get into STAGS which was rated outstanding at it's last ofsted. You can't really go wrong with primaries either.
