Hi Everyone,

We are moving to Reading and have looked at a house in Tilehurst. I've been searching similar threads but can't find any comments on the this area. Any feedback? Having looked on the council website it looks like there are lots of amenities and activities for kids but would welcome thoughts on what it's like to live there...

Thanks!

Kel

Tilehurst is nice, it's quite far out of Reading. I live in West Reading so a bit further towards the centre. Can you post a link to the house?! What kind of area are you looking for? Suburban? Villagey? Cosmopolitan?

Hiya,

Tilehurst is nice, we lived one village along for 8 years and have moved into central reading recently.

Are you looking at the station area, up on the hill, Long Lane and surrounds?

Thanks so much for your feedback!

Any advice on local schools would also be appreciated. I've heard Meadow Park (which is the designated school) has been turned into an academy an is improving... any thoughts?

Also we've found out the house has been underpinned in the 80's. Apparently this is quite common for Tilehurst as it is clay soil. Does anyone know anything about this?
