Hello
I currently live in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire and am looking to move myself and my two children down to Bournemouth at the beginning of April during the school holidays. I would like them to start their new school after the April half term. I am confused about what I need to do as I would like to apply for school's but I currently don't know what my address will be as we will be renting and haven't yet found the right place. So I'm unsure where to start etc.
My partner lives in Bournemouth so we are moving down to be with him, also my dad lives in southbourne.
I hope someone could give me some advice about where to start with schools, renting, catchment areas etc.
Samantha x

Hi Samantha,

This is the best source of information for school applications in Bournemouth]] I would ring them and get some advice. They should hopefully be able to tell you which schools have spaces available for your DC's year groups at the moment.

How old are your DC?

Hello thank you for your reply.
There are aged 9 and 10, in year 4&5.

It may be worth thinking about secondary schools as you want to be in the right catchment or be in the right feeder school for those.

Southbourne is a lovely area and Stourfield and St Katherine's are both good schools in the area, but they are oversubscribed at primary age, not sure about the juniors. I think secondary schools catchment from there would probably be Avonbourne (Girls) or Harewood College, formerly Portchester, (Boys). Possibly Bishop of Winchester too.
