Hi All

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this school/nursery? Was thinking about sending DS2 there and arranging a visit, but wanted to know if anyone has had any advice. Thank you!

My DD is there. She's 3.5 and this is her second term.

She took a while (2 weeks or so) to settle in but goes there happily now. It's big on out door life.. they go out every day whatever the weather. The garden is lovely and I like the class rooms and the feel of the place.

They are very much into their green credentials. I think DD was singing a song about recycling the other day.

I've not got any reason to complain. I'm not in love with the place - I don't know why.... But I'm happy enough with it and DD does skip in happily.

Thanks DyeInTheEar. My DD2 is 2 I and was looking for a nursery that had small classes. These tend to be the nurseries attached to schools but most of the schools require children to be 3. Only this place and Baby Unicorns seem to take 2 year olds (looked into Joint Colleges Nursery but they are booked up until 2015!).

Are you generally happy with the staff care?

Will arrange a visit but have never really heard of them. They seem to have places (unlike most of the nurseries in cambridge) which makes me a
bit nervous, but I guess you should never look a gift horse in the mouth Hmm

Thanks again for posting.

Yes we got in easily too as there were places. Maybe that's your question?

There's a very low turn over of staff which I like - so grown up and loads of experience. I wonder if people are put off by the decidedly non glitzy environment?? But I liked that, bit ramshackle and huge garden. I also think lots of people in the area send their DCs to private school preschool at 3?

I think the staff care is good. They seem to care about DD. the main thing for me was location and that fitted.

Have you looked at Brunswick or Children's Centres? I've heard good things about Pat a Cake too.

Baby Unicorns take them until the nursery year (ie the school year in which they turn 4) and then they have a nursery class at Sancton Wood they go onto. We loved baby unicorns

DyeInTheEar - yes that is probably my question, bearing in mind I am struggling to get on a waiting list for anyone else I am slightly hesitant. Anyway, will organise a visit and see for myself. Have heard good things about Brunswick and Pat a Cake but DH is against DC2 going to a big/main stream nursery due to bad experience we had at one with DC1. Obviously our one experience is no reflection on others in the area, but DH would prefer to avoid if possible.

CH3398 - thanks for your post. DC1 went to baby unicorns (this wasnt the bad one!) and he loved it. Have spoken to them but they say its unlikely DC2 will get in for september (which is our required date). Hope to be put on the waiting list at some point.

For research I just asked DD

"Do you like your nursery"
"I love it!"
" what do you love most"
"Playing with my friends. And my friend's spoon holder."

So there you have it.
