Hi,

I hope someone sees this! We are looking at relocating from Berkshire up to Warrington where my husbands originally from. As he lived there over 20 years ago he's not sure what areas are good and bad now. We've been looking at Burtonwood, Great Sankey and Woolston. What are schools like? I have a 23 month old son.

I actually cried when first told I was being posted to work in Warrington. But that was over 30 years ago, and very soon I really loved it.

Most people think that south of the Ship Canal (Stockton Heath, Appleton, Grappenhall) are "better areas", but I'm very happy over in Birchwood. There are lots of good schools, although some don't have their own sixth forms, using the excellent Priestley College instead.

Whereabouts will your husband be working? There's a lot to be said for living within walking distance!

Hi, I'm in South Warrington but used to live over the other side of Warrington near Great Sankey. South Warrington is much nicer but you do pay for the privilege - house prices almost double over this side.

Not sure where he'll be working yet, he'll be transferring police forces. Been looking at Padgate to, we could only afford to buy at about £150k which is one of the reasons for moving as we can't afford anything here! X

There are lots of GMP officers living around here, as it's close to the M6/M62. And the housing is very reasonable too.

Hiya - I've lived in Woolston - Warrington all my life and I hope I never have to leave, we have great local facilities, shops, swimming baths, library, GP's.
The primary schools are good, bus routes are great into the town centre.
We have a lovely local park with a duck pond and plenty of open space for kids to run, ride bikes etc. There are plenty of supermarkets near by.
I love it here
