Long Ashton Primary places?

Hi All - I'm hoping to move to Long Ashton in 2014, and with a 2.5 year old am well aware of the problems securing a place at the schools there as they've been heavily oversubscribed...

Can I ask - has this eased now? And are there any plans to create more places?

And finally, what reasons were given to the kids that were turned away? Were they simply too far away from the school?

Thanks! x

IF you ring North Somerset council education dept, primary admissions, they can tell you how far away people lived who were allocated school places in 2013, what additional places there are etc. they are very helpful. One of the primaries used to be more highly regarded than the other not sure if still us the case

Thanks GMAC - can you remember which one it was that was more highly regarded?

If you look at the ofsted reports one used to get better than the other but can't remember which and may have changed.

They are both much the same now, Birdwell is the one that used to be the less popular one but they've extended the school and now have brilliant facilities. They took 60 reception children last year, Northleaze only took 30. If you are at the end of the village furthest away from Bristol, Flax Bourton school is also very worth a look. It's much smaller but a very friendly village school. Good luck!
