If I'm not too late, a few thoughts. All these are within a 10-15 minute walk into town from the train station, or an extremely short taxi ride. Living here, I haven't stayed at any, so do check Trip Advisor, I'm going by appearances and some bar visits.
The Lace Market Hotel is in a lovely area and has a restaurant and bar. If you like cocktails, you could walk down to Brass Monkey, earlyish.
Hart's is quite upmarket and has a restaurant with a good reputation.
The Mercure on George Street is very central, newish.
Park Plaza is the most prominent of the cluster of, mostly business, hotels on Maid Marion Way (not a pretty street but very convenient to town).
Then there a lot of chains; Ibis, Premier Inn, Jurys Inn (very near the station).
