Commuting from Fleet

Hi

This is my first ever post on Mumsnet! I'm 14 weeks pregnant and need some advice on living in Fleet as we are thinking about moving there from London before the little one arrives. Just wondered if anyone else does the commute and what it is like-particularly do you get a seat on the peak trains as I'd really struggle to stand for 45 mins? Also wondered if Fleet has a nice community feel to it as I will spend quite a bit of my time on my own as hubby is a pilot. Schools look fantastic.

:-)

Thank you!

Hi Melly

Fleet is lovely although the car park to the train station and the station itself are being redeveloped right now so there's limited parking available.

The commuter trains as far as I know are relatively packed but I believe Fleet is one of the last stations you're likely to board from and still get a seat. The others being Winchfield and Hook and obviously Basingstoke.

Whereabouts in Fleet were you looking? Some areas are nicer than others / nearer to schools / easier for commute etc.

Hi, I left London to live in Fleet about 8 years ago and hated it. The trains were fine but I just found the place absolutely soulless. Since then, we've moved to a village outside Guildford and we're much happier
