Hello!
I am doing a bit of research and thought you ladies might be able to help...
I'm a Mum of 2 based in North London who has just taken over running a painting an existing decorating business.
The team are amazing and don't currently advertise. However, most of their trade is in South London. Am REALLY wanting to move things North of the river and am just wondering where you would look for trades people? (besides Mumsnet obvs)
For example, are there any local online forums you would check?Would you look in a hard copy local newspaper? Does your children's school have a noticeboard? Or would you take any notice of flyers etc coming through your front door?
Any feedback would be most appreciated!
Thanks

I would look in things like muswell hill flyer and its equivalents in surrounding areas. Id also look on forums such as harringayonline as its reputable and regular posters recommend / comment.

I wouldn't go with anyone who posted a flyer through my door.

Thanks for responding allypallylady.
I totally agree about the post through the door!
What is the Muswell Hill Flyer?

I might consider someone who posted a flyer through the door but I would then seek advice on somewhere like this forum before ringing them. Mumsnetters are very honest when it comes to feedback! Usually I just ask friends who they've had and whether they were happy with them.

I would look to Haringey Families which are long established and have a well respected (and secure to members only) recommended tradespeople section. It's available through their website. Good luck.

I would agree about the recommendations davidbowie but this is my problem.. The team work purely on recommendation South of the river. So I will need to let people know we are here to get us going in the North.
After the first few jobs I am confident the recommendations will come.

So far have:
Harringay Online
Muswell Flyer and associated publications (which looks great thanks Allypallylady)
and Harringay Families (thanks Fitzroy)

Have to say am still dubious about sticking stuff through doors.

If any more publications (hard copy or online) spring to mind please do share it's so helpful :)
