Glasgow primary schools.

So how does one get a child into a decent primary school in Glasgow? My son is at the local school and it is foul. Aggression, petty theft and a head teacher incapable of doing anything beyond spouting jargon. My son's teacher last year was great, but this year's is as useful as a chocolate fire-guard. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to move house and our placing requests have been refused for the past two years. Every day I see my son going downhill as he spends more time in that place. Do any of you have experience of trying to move child from a crappy Glasgow school?

Feel for you glasgowparent68. Have you been at the school long, has he just started P1 or is this a recent turn for the worse? I think there are good schools in Glasgow obviously, my children's school isn't perfect but generally happy with it. We are in the West End. I appreciate you don't want to give too much away but are you near this area?

I'd consider either going to your councillor, or to the Education Dept. It might not help get your son moved, but it should get them looking at what's going on in his current school.

Thanks both. Education department unhelpful at all levels, unfortunately. We are near the west end and there are no places in schools we would be happy to send our son to. He is in p3 and we never wanted him in this toilet of a school.

I'd be taking legal advice. www.govanlc.com/advice.htm
