Hi

My name is Nne and we are a family of four- myself, hubby, a boy who is 3 and a girl who is 18months.

We will be moving to Colchester next year, at the moment I think I am liking these areas- Highwoods and Stanway. Please can anyone give me any ideas/information that can guide me......we are not looking at countrysides just areas that are close enough to the city but NOT city, have good schools and safe in general.

Basically I'll like to know if these areas are good and if there is any other area I can add to my list.

I'll really appreciate any input at all, thinking is all getting stressful now.

PS: I have just joined netmums, so I am hoping I posted this in the right place :)

Hi there!
I'm fairly new to Colchester myself so can't be hugely helpful, but I can say that lexden is a lovely part of Colchester (it's where I would quite like to move to eventually) and I'm living just off abbey fields in the new build bovis development and I'm very happy here. It's good if you can be in the catchment area for Hamilton school, from what I hear it's the best around :) hope that helps!

I don't know about stanway but I'm not to far from highwoods and think its a pretty safe area there's also a large country park at highwoods. Take a look at Brinkley Grove primary school it seems to do very well - on essex county council website you can type in your postcode and it will tell you what the catchment school you come under.
