Noticed that the Coffee In The Wood has just opened and we are soon to get another one (The Ginger something????) just round the corner. And very excitingly we've got a chicken restaurant owned by Soho House just opened a bit further down the road towards Tooting....
Do you think Colliers Wood is about to become the next best place to live in SW London - do hope so!

It can only go up due to the cost of housing now.

The new restaurant in CW is called Green Ginger and I think is a sandwich shop... The new restaurant in Tooting is called the Chicken Shop. It is Amazing and very good prices. Once the tower becomes Luxury Apartments, we will be the new Belgravia "dahling"...

Just about to go to Green Ginger to check it out. It may not be the new Belgravia somehow, perhaps the new Bulgaria?

HaydonWomble · 08/12/2013 07:55

Never going to be Belgravia - not enough smart housing stock - but it's definitely coming into its own. If the 'Tower' is prettified when the development eventually gets underway then it stands a good chance of going from strength to strength!

The new piazza and development will definitely improve the area and there are some good thigns going on in neighbouring Tooting (coffee shop culture, new restaurants) which will have a filter down effect no doubt.
The Christmas lights in Wimbledon look pretty in the rain!

TheRealBIWI · 15/12/2013 20:15

Merton council have all manner of plans for Colliers Wood. There's supposed to be a 'boulevard' from South Wimbledon all through Colliers Wood, with appropriate eating/drinking facilities, I believe.

Inneedofstrongblackcoffee · 16/12/2013 09:19

Merton Council have always had plans for Colliers Wood. I still have their planning document from nearly a decade and half ago for a pedestrianised piazza around the Brown and Root building.
I take all their ideas with a pinch. I would prefer to wait until ideas are actualised.
Colliers Wood is certainly very buzzy at the moment or is that a reflection of the time of year?

Willemdefoeismine · 17/12/2013 20:29

No I think it's buzzy too...what we need now is a few boho shops, not just cafes and pubs! Then we will truly know it's on the 'up'!

I've been thinking about this and wondering whether there is another Borough which is so one-town centric? It's all about Wimbledon but it shouldn't be! Xmas Hmm.

Inneedofstrongblackcoffee · 18/12/2013 22:23

I would like a locksmith. Always seem to need keys cut and shoes reheeled.
I know not very exciting and doesn't fit with the idea of a few nice shops.

HaydonWomble · 26/12/2013 13:44

Even chichi Trumpton and Chigley had such mundane shops as a locksmith's! Xmas Grin.

Now this Hollywood style signing might suggest Colliers Wood is going beyond boho-chic!
