Snobby Mother Issues

How do I encourage my daugther's social life in the right direction, now that she is at Secondary school. Why is she always drawn to the girls whose only aspiration is to achieve X Factor stardom?

I guess one of the issues may concern your DD's interests. If she is bookish, then she will probably befriend studious girls. If she loves all the glamour and glitz of the stage then she is likely to attract girls with a similar outlook? Does that make sense?

All I can suggest is that you try to encourage her to develop interests where she may meet girls for whom appearance and fame aren't the only spurs!

Girls are also drawn towards the 'Bad boy' too as its rebellious, upsets their parents and is a statement of individuality. Its always attractive to hang out with the girls who are 'too cool for school' but then they will be the ones who will be throwing their lives away at a young age too. How cool is that? No career, no trips to far flung places etc etc just a life of social deprivation to look forward too instead.

Are you saying your daughter's friendly with 'undesirable' girls? There are plenty of those around and about.....I feel your pain as my much younger daughter has the same issues....

Not sure what the solution is though...;-(! Change your DD's school????
