Holybourne

Hi there. We're thinking of moving to Holybourne, near Alton. We have three girls, 10, 7 and 3, at least one of whom will go to Andrews' Endowed (we hope). Does anyone have any info on Holybourne or the school? Would be good to know what it's like as a place to live, ie lively, lots of families etc. Thanks

Hello there,

I have just seen your post and wanted to say that Holybourne is a lovely little village. I lived there since I was 16 when we moved down from Merseyside. I'm 32 now and I have a 7 month old daughter. My mother still lives in Holybourne.

It is definately not lively but thats the nice thing about it. It still feels like a sall village and everyone says hello when you walk past them. There is a duck pond where you can feed the ducks and a church as well as a village shop and a children's park.

The great thing about Holybourne is that it is surrounded by really beautiful and handy places eg.

Basingstoke - 25 mins
Guildford - 25 mins
Winchester - 25 mins
Southampton - 35 mins
Portsmouth - 40 mins
Petersfield - 25 mins
Camberley - 30 mins

Alton is the nearest town as has local amenities. Coffee shops, clothes shops, banks, the usual.

It is a lovely place for children to grow up as you dont have to go too far for something to do. Basingstoke is good as it has festival place with a big VUE cinema and lots of shops and restaurants.

My brother went to Andrews Endowed and it's a lovely little school. Then there is Eggars Senior School which is just as you come into Holybourne, which is nice and close. Ill be trying to get my little girl into Andrews when the time comes.
If you do move down and want to meet for a coffee if you dont know anyone, just give me a shout.
Hope this helps
Claire :)

Hi Claire, just saw your message. Thanks so much for the info, it all sounds great. We've applied for Andrews for our youngest who would be due to start Reception in September. Fingers crossed she gets in. Would be lovely to meet for coffee, will give you a shout in a few months when we move.
Cheers

Hi Cappuccino,

I too live in Alton. Holybourne is so lovely! My 11 year old daughter goes to the local Theatre group there, not sure if your daughters are into theatre but it is a sweet group.

Hope your move goes smoothly.
Again, if you want to meet up then it would be nice to get to know some new people :) I am 34, a midwife & mum to my 11 yo daughter.

Love Vikki x
