Meet Up - Kendal Library. Tuesday 19th November 10.00 - 11.00

Hi Everybody,

I am the local editor for Cumbria. I am aiming to launch the Kendal meet ups in Kendal Library because it is central and easy to find, also there are lots of resources and the staff are very welcoming.

The meetings aim to be very informal and welcoming to anyone who cares for children; parents, grandparents, foster parents, adoptive parents, new parents, old parents, people wanting to be parents, people who don't want to be parents but follow Mumsnet and any other group of people I haven't mentioned.

I will be there at each meet up because I would really like to use this one and the Furness area one as the blueprint of how it can be rolled out across the county. I will be appointing a Local Ambassador and aim to ensure that the role will get many benefits.

I will just be there to start everything off and supply the biscuits.

Hi. We will be moving to kendal early next year as explained on previous posts. As we don't know anyone in the area we are very interested in any info on this site. How was the meet up? Doesn't appear to be much activity on the treads which is worrying me slightly.

There is not much activity on the threads I know - that is why I have set it as a drop in in a very public place in the hope that people will know where to find us. I think the meet ups will take time to develop - which I am willing to put in to it.

Don't worry about not meeting up with other people in relation to Mumsnet as I have very close connections with the local Sure Start Centre and can introduce you to everything that is going on and accompany you to toddler groups etc so you will most definitely not be lonely and isolated when you arrive. The staff are lovely and there are a variety of different areas in Kendal that are covered so I am sure that you will find a group that suits you.

I have posted up the meet up dates for you to see when I will be at the library - I have to change January's date because it is on my husbands 40th birthday and I will be in the bad books if I don't - especially as he is dreading being 40 LOL.

Where are you moving from?

So it is not too far away then - that's good.

Are you moving because of the job change (sorry to sound so nosey)?

I am going to try to load up the poster again now that the technical hitches have apparently stopped.

I am giving up on the poster now.

Don't worry saw poster on fb page. We are only an hour away. Just fancy a change really and been throwing pins in a map and researching areas...came to conclusion of kendal! We will rent first and if don't settle can try somewhere else. I work in a job dealing with constant deprivation and crisis so am looking forward to a career change also. A quieter life will be lovely.

Just praying my request for voluntary redundancy goes through so can make plans as in limbo at moment.
