Access to maternity services when you've just moved house? Help please!

I have recently moved house and found out that I'm pregnant ( Grin ). Phoned maternity services yesterday to book my first appointment, but they couldn't do anything as I am outside of the catchment area of my previous health centre. Registered at a new one today, but they told me that it will take a good few days before I'm in the system and that I will get a letter when it's sorted. Does anyone know if it's worth phoning maternity services tomorrow/Thursday anyway or do I just have to wait? Also, does anyone know what the queues are like for the booking appointment and first scan? Thanks for any help!

If you are in Edinburgh its a central booking number that you phone. Sorry i cant remember it but the GP surgery should give you it or Google! You don't need to go through the GP. I was booked at 12 weeks and given an appointment for a scan a few days later. First scan is usually about 12 weeks if no problems.
