Nursery/Primary help

Hi
I grew up in Cambridge but had moved away for almost 8 years.
I'm back again (sadly my DP now my ex due to him) and I'm now abit clueless on nursery and school reputations.

anyway my DD is 11 and happy in Arbury school but I'm moving house in 3 weeks over to chesterton area and will be out of the catchment area for arbury and colleges nursery.

My DS will be 3 soon and I'm already planning ahead for nursery and primary school for him.
Could anyone who has children in Shirley school or even friends children please give me their personal view on the school.
Thanks Smile

Hello, and welcome back to Cambridge! I have two children at the Shirley.
They are both very happy and doing well. I am sure the Head would be happy to talk to you and answer any questions you have. Also sure she would give you a tour of the school.
Good luck with your move.

If you check out the school website there are school tours coming up. However, still phone the school and if the dates of tour don't suit you sure another could be arranged for you.
Good luck with your move!

I have two at the Shirley, they are both happy and doing really well. The staff seem really keen and the Ofsted was good too.
I don't know anyone with kids at the new school in Chesterton but that might be one to consider too.

I too have happy children at the Shirley. The Nursery is lovely. My son particularly liked the toilet area which is brightly decorated! The children in the Nursery have lots of space to play in a vibrant, warm and well equipped environment. The staff are experienced and put both parents and children at ease. I hope you manage to have a look around the nursery and the school.
Hope all goes well with your move back to Cambridge.

Thanks for the info ladies :)
I didn't know the was tour dates, just had a look and think the last one will best as that's the only date after I move house.

Would be nice to see around the school beforehand as at the same time I'm looking at places I can volunteer as a early years TA while I do an apprenticeship.

Maybe if DS gets a place next year I might see some on you about the school :)
