False widow spiders

Newspapers seem to be jumping on this and I have seen a few reports in Essex, have any of you seen one or found one in your home? How did you react ?

Gah, me and my husband are usually quite blase about creepy crawlies but we had one on our ceiling. I felt really nervous, thought I'd stick my hand somewhere without looking, get bitten and my arm would fall off! Needless to say I forgot after a few hours but I still get a bit cautious everytime I see a new report of one :/
