New in Penylan!

Hi there, we moved to Cardiff from Norfolk about 6 weeks ago and I'm still finding my feet. We're renting in Penylan v close to Wellfield Road. I have a 10 year old son in Year 6 and a 6 year old daughter in Year 2 currently in different schools because of the appalling primary school place shortage in Cardiff! I'm not working at the moment but will be looking for work fairly soon. I'd love to meet like-minded mums to have a coffee with - love the Arts (keen pianist), and books. Read the Saturday Guardian. I realise that mums with similar aged children will most probably be working for at least some of the time but if anyone can manage to meet, please let me know. I would also really appreciate some local knowledge on schools, shopping, good places to go out etc. Thanks!

Hi there! Welcome! I moved to Cardiff just over a year ago after a decade in SE England. My husband and I are still in the process of meeting new people and making friends - the last year has been pretty busy! Our little one is 1 so a bit younger than yours. I work part-time. You won't believe this. I know it's 6 months since you posted your reply but somehow I missed your post and haven't been back on Mumnet for quite a few months so didn't know that you replied until today!

It's very likely that you won't check this thread again but, just in case, I'm posting to say that I'd still like to meet up, and could make lunch/coffee on Monday or Fridays (no job yet despite looking!) Chapter is fine for me if that's best for you.

I also saw your other post about running. I run or 'plod' is more accurate a few times a week but I think you would probably be much faster than me and I run around Roath Park, which is very local to me.

really keen to meet other mams.
Moved to Cardiff 2 y ago.
I work full time, but flex-hours, so can easily fit in.
I too have DS in year 6.
I run too, but currently injured and itching to get back to it.
I am based near Llandaff. I don't drive, but will happily cycle to pretty much anywhere within Cardiff.
