Baby shower & baby swimming ideas?

Hi,

I'm pregnant with my first child and live on the Isle of Dogs. I've been researching all the prenatal activities in my area, so I've the chance to meet other expectant mums. I've also been trying to find out about all the places and events I can attend with my baby, as my friends in the area don't have kids.

I've a few questions for mums in Tower Hamlets...

  • A few of my girlfriends have suggested I arrange a baby shower. I've never been to one, but I like the idea of taking this opportunity to celebrate! Have you any recommendations of baby shower ideas, local venues or activities?
  • I really love swimming, but all the pools in my area (Reebok, Virgin, Tiller) seem very 'grown up', not very child-friendly (cool water and fairly deep, no fun fountains or water toys etc). Have you any recommendations for baby swimming venues?
  • Other than NCT evenings, antenatal classes and pregnancy yoga/Pilates, did you find any other ways to meet local mums-to-be?

I've shared the info I've found so far on my Twitter account @docklandsbaby. Please let me know if you are also on Twitter so we can share info on there too!

Thanks!

Hello,
for the baby shower you can organize something at home or maybe at new nursery "jamboree" or in a local pub. I never been to one, and I didn't organize one for my daughter as in Italy we usually celebrate at home with friends and family after giving birth.
-For the baby swimming venues you can check the web site of waterbabies(I believe they have a venue in the docklands).
-I met few mums at the NCT evenings and through this website so I'm happy to meet you next Thursday! I'm not on Twitter, but I'm on Skype and on Facebook. Ciao!
