Birth experiences in Glasgow

Hi everyone,

When I was pregnant with DS, I found it really hard to find any 'real life' experiences of either the Princess Royal or the Southern, where I gave birth.

Would anyone like to share their experiences of either hospital here?

I'll start by saying I liked the Southern in terms of modernity, cleanliness, etc, but found it very short staffed which was frustrating - DH and I sat around the antenatal ward for a day without anyone really bothering about us.

How has everyone else found their local hospital - not just the Royal or Southern but other local ones, too?

I have had 2 childred in royal 2007 I never seen anyone was like ghost town and I actully had to help suport a new mum next to me
2011 there was new rule they could not take the children away from the side of bed but as my daughter was couthing up mucus all night and I was stuck in bed after section I had to keep buzzing them wich I think they got annoyed and it got to point I discharged our selfs a day early

I had my babies in the Southern in 2001 & 2006 so I think it's changed a lot since then, but my experience was that they were very intervention-happy which meant my labour with DS2 was entirely medicalised and I narrowly escaped an emergency c-section (as in, I delivered on the trolley while they were transferring me to theatre).

I had my girls in Wishaw in 2007 and 2009. I was induced for both but it was a much more laid-back experience where I felt like I was being given the chance to go into labour with a little bit of help rather than being forced into it against my body's will. It meant that I was able to deliver DD1 in the birthing pool with minimal interference, and DD2's labour was similarly relaxed and let me be in control.
