Just thought I'd share this with you in case any were thinking of novel idea for a childs birthday.
We saw Clown Bert at Dick Willows cider farm festival some time ago and searched high and low to find him for my 5 year old daughters birthday. The whole 21 child strong reception class marched into the Parish rooms expecting nothing but perfection from the hotly anticipated entertainment.
Our clown arrived punctually and incognito, not that Bert is one of those overdressed Northampton clowns, he was a joy and had the children (and parents) in stitches. They were not an easy crowd, one or two of the little loves were a little exuberant in their audience participation but he was adept at diffusing their little games and distracting attention. Bert began with balloon modelling and then went into his routine. Gentle clowning, magic and plate spinning.
He was a huge success and the parents loved him too!
My only fear is that we've created a groundhog day and each child in the class will have Clown Bert for their birthdays until they're all 7 or 8 such was the interest from parents. Thankfully there were many other younger and older siblings who'd unexpectedly stayed for the party much to my limited party bag dismay. Spread the word if anyone's looking for a clown that won't reduce coulrophobics to tears.
