Query re:4+ Admissions at Wimbledon High

Hello,
Do you know if the mum/dad is allowed to stay in the room during the assessment? Because I doubt my daughter would happily stay in the room with people she doesn't know, let alone answer their questions and interact with them.
Thanks!

No definitely not. That is part of what they are looking for. Have you met any Whs girls ?

Primafacie · 04/10/2013 01:41

Agree with Offal. DD did it just last year. All the parents have to wait in the waiting area. All the girls eventually agreed to go in, with varying degrees of resistance :)

Thanks guys. I have a seriously shy girl, hopefully she will open up in the coming year. We are currently living in Spain and she just started school here.

Please don't worry too much about shyness - there has to be a mix of personalities in any class. Can you imagine the noise and bossiness levels if they had a class of 23 alpha girls :)? DD is not shy but isn't the most outgoing girl either. On the other hand, she is generally compliant, and they need girls like her too.

Thanks Primafacie, that's what I was telling my husband...
In the meantime we have decided to apply to Ursuline too.
We just found out that our address in Wimbledon, despite being very central (opposite Police Station), is actually outside all the state schools' catchment areas, aargh!!!

Beth, wouldn't you be in the catchment for Bishop Gilpin? Or maybe not close enough actually. Ursuline lovely apparently. If you are Catholic, St Mary's is a great school you could look at.

bethpearson · 11/10/2013 13:18

Victorygirl, checking the Merton admissions document, it seems like we are not covered by any schools.
I'm not a fully practising Catholic and St Mary's told me they first would ask for a priest reference for the past 3 years, which I cannot provide. It seems like Ursuline are more laid back.

Yeah Beth, we're the same - in one of the famous catchment voids. Ursuline is a very nice school, we really enjoyed our visit there.
