Moving to Lancaster - which areas?

We will be moving to Lancaster between December and Feb and I am a bit clueless as to which areas would be best so any local knowledge would be brilliant.

We are looking in the Greaves park/Bowerham areas atm, mainly because DH works locally and he wouldn't mind cycling/walking to work after quite a while of 40 min commutes but are there any other areas worth considering?

We have a child in reception class so close to primary school, and not too far a walk/public transport to the train station would be ideal. Anybody have any inspiration for areas for me to research?
