Axminster or Honiton College?

Hello there
We're moving to East Devon next month (yippee!) and need to apply to secondary school for our eldest pretty much immediately. The house is in the catchment for Honiton Community College, but is actually nearer to Axe Valley College. Does anyone have any experience/opinion on either of these two fine institutions? I realise neither are going to give Colyton Grammar a run for its money, but we don't want to find out (too late) that we've applied to the one that everyone else avoids!
Thanks for any advice.

Its a big fat zero to Axe Valley from me. My dcs got through that school despite them!

Head is leaving shortly and cited the recent astro turf as one of his biggest achievements and also x number of 6th formers applying to university. The reality of that is that all 6th formers are obliged to apply and school pays their fees.

A friend has moved her year 9 child from Axe Valley due to bullying, racism and extortion! I know others that have moved dc due to bullying.

No idea about Honiton but also have a look at Woodruffe and Kings.
